SUMMER your cold with the preview…it’s surely new to you and will hold your until the album drops in 2012.

Tai Allen & Jonn Nubian have crafted singing & poetry into a signature approach reminiscent of Gil-Scot Heron — yet uniquely their own.  In 2010, Allen’s album (produced by vicelounge) “Easy Readin’” was awarded Album of The Year by the National Poetry Awards. In 2011 the group was lauded with great reviews from BET/CentricTV and other critics.

Creative is the best adjective/noun to define the group. Utilizing different creative mediums is considered a pathway to a tone to the ViceLounge production team. Writing has always been the cornerstone of their creativity.

Allen states, “Music is my second lover. She, like so many others, seduced me at a tender age. I cannot remember which classic tune changed my life; I think it was an orgy of acts and songs.”  ViceLounge has been influenced by many including Norman Connors, Gil-Scot Heron, Art of Noise, Portishead, Public Enemy, Quincy Jones and Django Rhinehart.

But the creativity also runs in the technology realm: the team has been at the forefront interactive production and strategy. Since the late 90s, vicelounge has helped create platforms for major firms and small shops.

Projects include work with, Grammy Nominated artist, Maiysha; REEBOK; Nigerian soul star, Keziah Jones; Spike Lee; Uptown Magazine; Uniworld Group; UBO; Apollo Theater; Brooklyn Arts Council; DJPremium & DrJays; and, Black Enterprise.

Music: amalgamated noise. truth set to words and tones, spoken or sung, felt inside the melodies torn from yesterday or created for tomorrow.

Vicelounge is a place to find yourself or others nodding their heads and tapping their feet. Get up and do the proper two-step with the fine lass/lad from across the room. Take them and ride the drums or sit on the melody, this interconnection of hip-hop and soul-fried music.

Then there are the days when beautiful ambiance beckons you to sit and love another; gets you to focus on the important things. You think it through while we provide the soundscape. This is where you dance because you cannot stop yourself. Enjoy the company of others for 5 minutes: sweat and lose control; close your eyes and get into what moves you – sometimes organic; sometimes electronic.

Vicelounge refuses the boundaries and constrictions of genres. We make music that befits our moods and feelings. Crafting songs to turn a thought into conversation or welcome a love into new universe. This is why we play and sample and write and think art. and this is what we create… art.

I could tell you it is great art inspired by the masters of galaxies, but who am i to make such announcements. We only know it is heart-felt and honest.

Plus, what is music but a cultural exchange between maker and listener; a presentation of thoughts and philosophies with a person or group? we offer ourselves in song. You offer yourselves as listeners and enjoyers…even the critics have a place in our hearts.

and the beat is pretty wicked!!

there is this look i have when all talks are finished. this look i have when i am done yelling or screaming. she note: when you are yelling i know i am not in that much trouble, it’s when you get to talking too normal like a principal. that’s when i want to go hide in my room.

now… i just got off the phone with one of my boys. he noted how someone cowardly contacted him because they felt i was acting ass at the knitting factory, which is probably true.

but hmmm… if i was, contacting another man to talk tell me to stop is a bad move.

more importantly, it was hard for him to believe i was being pushy about collabos when i have a very short list of cats i will even mic with. ten persons last i checked, and 2 are done — thanks machinedrum and tina.

now more importantly, if there is a problem do NOT contact others. it is impossible for another man/woman to control or constrain me. it is NOT going to happen. i am all kinetic energy.

now i do not believe in hating or haters or snitches. in fact, i rally against those terms.

dislike me! fine. hate me! fantastic. BUT, please, do not attempt to disparage or disrespect or toss rocks vs me. these transgressions are not taken lightly, and unlike many of my brethren, i am actually a nasty size and attitude. and yes, i do keep two feet in spaces that are dingy & no-so-good, solidly. and yes, my daughter is correct the look does lead to issues.

and more importantly, why? why are grown men attempting to talk shite publicly unless they mean me harm? talk.. by all means say your piece… but say it to a confidant. talk to your girlfriend. speak of these things, negatively, internally, unless, you aim to feud which also a fair proposition.

i understand, the male ego is a powerful and amazing driver. i suggest that you give him directions around certain neighborhoods.

chris, my wonderful pale twin, once tried to beat my ass to slap another fellow. when i asked him why, after spending 20 minutes begging him not to, he said,as i paraphrase: sometimes the only language an a@@hole understands is sign language.

i’d hate to find out if chris was right.
